Arts on Fire

Designed for ages 13–18, this class is perfect for teens who love making different types of art - from painting, to drawing, to watercolour! It’s for creative teens who thrive in a relaxed, supportive environment while experimenting with different styles and mediums.

What They’ll Learn

In this 7-week course, students will:

• Explore painting and drawing through weekly projects
• Try a variety of techniques, from shading and color mixing to abstract composition
• Experiment with different mediums and materials to discover their preferences
• Finish a complete piece of art each week to take home and share

Why It Matters

Teen Art gives students the freedom to express themselves creatively without the pressure of grades or portfolio requirements. It’s about experimentation, self-discovery, and building confidence. This class is a great stepping stone for teens considering the Portfolio Track in the future, as it allows them to sample different approaches and find what inspires them most.

Instructor Bio

Led by Mira Armstrong, an OCAD graduate and professional artist with many years of teaching experience. Mira has a gift for guiding students through both technical skills and creative exploration, ensuring each teen feels supported and inspired.

End Experience

By the end of the session, each student will have created a collection of seven original works that reflect a mix of styles, techniques, and personal expression — a mini portfolio of their creativity.

🟩Pre-Portfolio

Available for ages 5-8(Kids), 9-12(Youth), 13-18(Teen)

A fun, hands-on intro to painting, drawing, digital art, and animation. Students complete one project per class. Helps young artists discover their passion before choosing one or multiple disciplines in the Portfolio Track.
