Arts on Fire

Designed for ages 8-18, this 7-week course is ideal for students ready to take a more structured and progressive approach to their Digital Arts and Animation studies. Prior experience in our Digital Art and Animation courses is an asset but not required.

Students must bring their own iPad and Stylus with PROCREATE app downloaded.

What They’ll Learn

Students will split their time between digital illustration and animation fundamentals, building a strong foundation in both areas:

Digital Art Foundations

• Learn digital drawing basics using tools like Procreate
• Explore brushes, layers, and basic color workflows
• Complete projects such as character sketches and digital posters

Animation Foundations

• Learn frame-by-frame animation basics and how to storyboard simple ideas
• Create flipbooks, short GIF loops, and introductory storyboards
• Discover how to bring simple objects, characters and illustrations to life on screen

Why It Matters

Digital illustration and animation are core skills in today’s creative industries, from graphic design and advertising to video game design, animation, and architecture visualization. Students gain both technical know-how and problem-solving skills while also learning the creative workflows used by professionals. This class builds transferable skills that strengthen not just artistic growth but also critical thinking and career readiness in design fields.

Instructor Bio

Led by Marissa Pinti, who is currently completing her fourth year at Seneca Polytechnic, specializing in Animation and Visual Development. Passionate about storytelling through digital art and animation, Marissa brings characters and worlds to life with her drawings and designs. She loves sharing her enthusiasm for creativity and hopes to inspire the same love of digital arts in her students, encouraging them to see art as both self-expression and a pathway to exciting future opportunities.

🔴 Portfolio Track

• ⏱️ Duration: 1.5 hours per class | 7-12 classes per course
• 📚 Levels: Foundations, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
• ✅ Join Policy: Start at the beginning of a session (mid-session entry possible with instructor approval)
• 🎓 Progression: Previous level required unless assessed by instructor
