Who It’s For

Designed for ages 5-8, this class is perfect for young artists who love animals and want to learn how to draw them step-by-step. No experience needed — just a love for creativity and critters of all kinds!

What They’ll Learn

In this fun and engaging course, students will:

• Learn to draw animals using simple shapes, proportions, and line techniques
• Explore features such as fur, feathers, scales, and expressions
• Practice shading and coloring to bring creatures to life
• Draw a new animal each week — from pets and jungle animals to dinosaurs and ocean creatures
• Build confidence and fine motor skills through guided, age-appropriate lessons

Why It Matters

Animal drawing builds essential early art skills such as observation, shape recognition, pattern understanding, and attention to detail. As children learn to break complex animals into simple forms, they strengthen the foundational drawing skills used in all future art studies — including character design, realism, and digital art. This class also boosts patience, focus, and creativity in a playful, encouraging environment.

Instructor Bio

Led by Mira Armstrong, an OCAD graduate and professional artist with many years of experience teaching all age groups. Mira is technically gifted and skilled at translating her knowledge into lessons students can easily grasp — balancing professional techniques with an encouraging approach.
