[JAN - MAR] Realism - Master Observation, Detail & Technique | Ages 14-18 | Wednesdays 5-6:30| 5 Weeks | Exploration
Who It’s For
Designed for Teens (14-18) who want to learn how to draw and paint with greater accuracy, depth, and refinement. Whether you’re a beginner looking to improve your foundational skills or an experienced artist seeking to elevate your technique, this class offers a structured pathway into the world of realistic art.
What You’ll Learn
Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, students will explore:
- Observational Accuracy: Learning to “see like an artist” through form analysis and proportion techniques
- Shading & Value: Building strong light–shadow understanding to create depth and realism
- Rendering Techniques: Smooth gradients, texture control, and precise detailing
- Color Theory for Realism: Skin tones, natural colors, subtle shifts, and atmospheric tone
- Subject Studies: Portraits, still life objects, botanicals, and natural forms
- Medium Skills: Use of graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, and optional acrylic/ink for realism
Why It Matters
Realism is the foundation of nearly every artistic discipline — illustration, digital art, animation, character design, and fine art all rely on strong observation and rendering skills. Learning realism teaches discipline, patience, and visual analysis while helping students gain confidence in their ability to create lifelike work.
